To Switch Or Stick
04.14.04 (11:15 pm)   [edit]
[image]oliviasy_644921841 .gif[/image] I'm still deciding... to stick to TBlog or switch to BlogSpot. Lately, TBlog has been experiencing downtime (cos they've been upgrading some stuff). So I have been tweaking my BlogSpot account during my free time lor. Got some nice ready-made templates, tweaked them a little (too much work to recode everything. might as well, copy paste & modify). Of course, credit will still go to the original creator of the template (I maintained a link for their site as an appreciation). Anyway, with my TBlog account, design can only go so much, since it's a free acount. So... what say you? Should I stay or should I go?

No PC To Use...
04.13.04 (12:23 am)   [edit]
Am using the Creative Group Head's IMac to type this entry. My PC is currently being used by clients to check on their interactive CD-ROM. No machine available... might as well go home right... apa nak buat... tadak pc untuk guna... I don't even have a proper place to sit! Even the conferene table is occupied. Gotta hang around, lepak. Later people...

Just Another Manic Monday...
04.11.04 (11:04 pm)   [edit]
The entry below was written in the morning. Streamyx was down the whole morning.

I'm writing this entry on Wordpad, the internet line is down. Been down since this morning, and for those of us who depend on the the WWW for research, uploading of files etc, our work has come to a standstill. Not to mention I can't log on to Dr.Liew's forum! Sigh... The time now is 11.30AM.

Weekend was ok. Got a baby hamster, about 3 weeks old. The name's Biscuit (my sis picked the name out), and we can't exactly tell the sex of the little critter right now. The girl at the shop says it's a boy, but then it could be a girl cos the last time my sister went to get 2 boys, they turned out to be 2 girls several weeks later. So you see, eventhough you run a petshop, you can still get the sexes all mixed up. Boy or girl, doesn't matter lar. Biscuit is really cute by the way. Got white rings around the eyes, look as though he/she's wearing goggles. Biscuit is still very jumpy & jittery at the moment (all baby hamsters are like that). If you put your finger through the cage gaps, Biscuit will definitely nip your finger (ouch!) So far, Biscuit has nipped my bf & my dad *LOL*. Told you guys not to kacau to little fella now, never listen. Just have to give it a few weeks, let it grow bigger & settle down.

I wonder if hamsters dream. Cos sometimes when my
hamsters are asleep, I will watch them. Sometimes they'll twitch a little. Their little paws will twitch a bit, and their mouths move... as though they're eating something. Could they be dreaming. Maybe they're dreaming of a wide open field, filled with sunflower seeds, grains and other hamster goodies. Cute huh? Maybe in their dreams, they're running around, chasing each other, munching and stuffing their mouths with seeds & corns.

I also watched Something's Gotta Give yesteday afternoon - DVD. Nice movie. Pretty funny too. Jack Nicholsan & Diane Keaton provided lotsa laughs. Since it's DVD, you can actually see Jack Nicholsan's butt when he was admitted to the hospital, and Diane Keaton naked in another scene (when she thought Jack was asleep in the other room, then took of her clothes lor. But then suddenly Jack walked pass her room and saw Diane naked and they both screamed. LOL). Keanu Reeves makes a good-looking doctor (yum!).

Headache...
04.08.04 (3:21 am)   [edit]
[image]oliviasy_644921841 .gif[/image] Headache... headache... aiyo headache... Uphamol 650, one tablet sure semua head go away punya.

Kidding... my eyes are feeling rather tired now cos I've been looking at HTMLs for a long time today... had problems accessing TBlog today, so thought of tweaking my BlogSpot sikit... kinda like a Plan B. I'm still not satisfied with what I've done in BlogSpot yet... so I won't publish it until I am happy with the results.

My Name Is O-L-I-V-I-A
04.06.04 (9:44 pm)   [edit]
My name is OLIVIA, not OLIVER. The spelling is O-L-I-V-I-A. Why do people keep calling me OLIVER? Hello, Oliver guy name bah, do I look like I have a willy in between my legs? Man... Is it so hard to pronouce my name?

Normally when I introduce myself as "Olivia", some of the replies I got was "Oh, Olivia Newton John..." Ok, I got use to that. Some replies were "Oli-what?" Eh, so susah ke, my name? During school, I used my chinese name SY, which I would later find out that 4 other girls share the same name (different surname): Tan SY, Chan SY, Ng SY & Lim SY. Plus some people always had problems pronouncing SY properly. "Ssccchheeewww Yen?" Wrong lah. Try again, pal. When I started college, I started using my so-called English name my mum gave me when I was a kid (or so she said). I thought it would be a change you know, to use an english name instead of SY, since during school days so many SYs.

Then when it comes to filling up forms, normally I would use the name in my I.C lor. I applied for this BeeDees card before, and they got my name wrong for a few years! The SY became a SV! Each time they sent me a newsletter, it's stated SV. I tried several times to get them to rectify the error, but each time the newsletter comes, it's SV. Until I got fedup, personally called them up and got them to rectify the spelling. I got the same issue with Jusco Card too.

Chinese name oso can get wrong, English name oso can get wrong... I'm not ranting, mind you. Just find it amusing sometimes...

Chicken Pox
04.06.04 (7:59 pm)   [edit]
[image]oliviasy_644921841 .gif[/image] I was reading a blogger's current hiatus from the world of blogging due to chicken pox (get well soon, Fly). Most of us would have gotten chicken pox before we hit 20, but there are many who haven't gotten it. Word has it the older you get chicken pox, the more serious it gets. My cousin got his dose of chicken pox in his late 20s, and boy, did he have a bad time. He said even the insides of his mouth kena! Eeewww... But thankfully, those who have yet to get chicken pox can now get vaccinated against it. Just go to your local clinic and get your shots. If I've not mistaken, there are 2/3 shots. You get the 1st shot, then come back a couple of months later for the remaining shot(s). Something like that. For those who have gotten chicken pox before, chances are, you won't get it again since your body would've automatically build up its antibodies. But there has been stories about recurrence, quite rare though.

Chicken pox got to me when I was 15. I remembered it quite well because I got it together with my sister, who was 13 at that time. I was the 3rd person in my class to get chicken pox during that year. Imagine this: 5 students in one class alone got chicken pox. It was like an epidemic going around! Every 2-3 weeks, someone will be absent from classes. One person falls sick... on MC 2-3 weeks... comes back to school... the following week, another student on MC. Scary huh? People were afraid to come into my class for fear of catching chicken pox. Word was going around school, this class is going through chicken pox mania! Talk about popularity for all the wrong reasons.

Initially, I found some strange looking pimple-like bumps on some parts of my body. The bumps looked like they had water in it. Strange, I thought. Plus I was a little feverish. I told my mum about it, and she suspected it could be chicken pox (since there were already 2 students in my class that "kena" chicken pox). The doctor gave some camomile lotion (in case I scratch my pox) and told me to drink lotsa fluids. Ah well, 2-3 weeks of no school! Can't risk infecting everyone else right? So there I was at home, bumming with my sis. We looked like 2 ladybirds! All the pox marks exploding onto our skin. Yucks! I didn't hide from any mirrors. But believe me when I say even Frankenstein would've freaked out if he saw my face! My face & body was the main pox area, my limbs had minimal. I had to make sure I don't scratch/peel/burst any of the pox for fear of scars. Which was though considering chicken pox is DAMMMMM itchy!!! To counter the itchiness, we had to apply camomile lotion all over. We went "pink" during the pox duration (the lotion was pinkish in colour). We also had to avoid certain food like eggs, black soya sauce, seafood, forgot what else.... it's been so long.

I still have some light pox scars on my body, a grim reminder of my chicken pox experience. I also have a small crater-like pox mark just above my right cheek, but over the years it has become less noticable. Obviously THAT pox mark went pretty deep, hence it left a "crater" on my face. Ah well, part and parcel of growing up!

Am In A Slight Discomfort
04.05.04 (12:18 am)   [edit]
[image]oliviasy_644921841 .gif[/image] I hurt my lower jaw yesterday. not really hurt ler... how to explain... you know if you pull lower lips and look inside, there's a small piece of flesh which connects your lower lips to your lower jaw? Well, hurt myself right THERE yesterday. Don't ask me how it happened... it just did. So now my lower lip... the connecting flesh at least... feels a little swollen now.

Met up with 2 groups of friends over the weekend. Friday night was with my college friends to talk about our upcoming island getaway (yippee!!!). Saturday night was with a small group of secondary school mates, just catch up with one another and stuff. Sunday was at Times Sqaure. Pretty dull place. I saw a fantastic pair of boots from Debenhams, but it's way off what I can afford  But hey, I tried it out for fun!!! HAH!!! I got a couple of DVDs though... *giggles*. I went into the themepark and saw the roller coaster ride. note that I said I SAW, not SAT. The sight of the ride already made my heart weak... no way was I gonna sit on it. My bf was going like "Woooowww..... Shhhiiiitttt!!!!" at the twirls of the ride. Call me chicken, but I got a weak heart when it comes to roller coasters.

I Am Amazed...
04.02.04 (12:51 am)   [edit]
I Am Amazed... as to how some people can spend money. More like, how they spend OTHER people's money. How they can just spend without giving a second thought. That money for them is a very small matter. Money? I've got plenty of it, what's to worry? Buy whatever they like, use the credit cards to the max. And they don't even wince at the thought of money flowing out from their partner's pockets. Perhaps they have endless income flowing into their wallets. Perhaps they have partners that can supply them with endless amounts of cash, hence they don't have to bother how or where the money is spent. Just as long as they get what they want who cares how much they have to spend to get it. I'm amazed. I'm at awe at their actions. I'm bewildered.

Blimy... 1Gig!
04.01.04 (10:25 pm)   [edit]
[image]oliviasy_644921841 .gif[/image] Got news this morning that Google is in the midst of introducing its free web-based email service. A whopping 1GB email storage space! Wahlauweh!!! Is that possible? We can only wait until further notice. Actually, I'm happy with 10MB. HAH!!! I've been using Hotmail & Yahoo mail for quite a while now. My verdict?

Hotmail: Very heavy graphics, takes a while to completely load a full page, only 2MB storage, lotsa SPAM!!! Which is why my current setting is only people in my address book can email me. The rest will never reach my mailbox

Yahoo Mail: So far so good. Occasionally I do get spammed, but they wind up in my Bulk Mail, not my Inbox. Lately, I've notice I've been getting junk mails from weird addresses with subjects like "Re: Delivery Failure - my yahooID@yahoo.com". I don't even recognise the person's name/email :? I don't open them, just trash trash trash.
