[image]oliviasy_644921841 .gif[/image] Yeap, got the 2nd installment of LOTR, extended version. 4-disc special, with all the features & works. Plus 43 minutes extra footage dude!!!! My butt was virtually stuck to the sofa for close to 4-hours yesterday, man.... 4-hours!!!! Gawd, I can't imagine those people who bought the tickets to the LOTR Marathon happening on the 19/12 :shock: Sure it's an experience (10pm - 11am the next morning). And if you come in your pyjamas, you get some RM 200 goodie bag or something... but hell!!! Even I got butt cramps while sitting on my sofa! I can't imagine sitting in the screening hall for so any hours with limited leg space :?
My boyfriend's idea of a LOTR Marathon: Watch the 1st & 2nd installment @ home. Then rush out to the movies to catch the 3rd installment :lol: Anyway, I had a good weekend. Went down to Sungai Wang on Saturday (that's where I got the LOTR DVD). Plus I bought the movie Seabiscuit & a box of Studio Ghibli Archive (woo-hoo!!) Like I said, I'm slowly building up my anime collection :wink: So many titles to choose from (many of which I've never even heard of). Man, I can go broke building my collection...
Sungai Wang is an interesting place - to see people. Hehe... The people, the character, especially the dressing! Funky, innovative, creative way of matching clothes & colours... or just plain silly :wink: Ah-bengs & Ah-lians hangout (no offence lar, joking only).

Man, getting lazy ler... I'm back at the office, but it's really quiet here. Most of the staff are still on leave. In my dept alone, just me and my manager (who's in his room). I'm listening to LaunchCast Radio right now. Kinda bored actually.
Been hunting around for some interior design websites I can visit. Wanna get some ideas on how to decorate my house. Which reminds me... I have to go dig for my IKEA magazines later. I looked through some S'porean interior mags yesterday as well, some were quite ok(might consider buying them). Some designs were just too far fetched - not really suitable for condo/apartments. Man, I've got lots to think about decorating the house. I like things to be kept simple & minimal. My bf left the house deco part to me, so.... hehehehe :twisted: Of course I'll do a good job on it lah, roughly sketch some ideas onto paper and get a friend to do a 3D model on it. Luckily we know some interior designer friends :wink:
It's our house. And we're gonna make it cosy & warm :D

[image]oliviasy_644921841 .gif[/image] What a nice Monday. I'm at home (clear my annual leave), the weather is bright & sunny. Tomorrow is the 1st day of Raya - another 2 days break.
I went to 1 Utama yesterday. Man, that place is HUGE now! No need to go MidValley man. Only 1 floor of the new wing is opened, and that 1 wing is already huge! Imagine all 6 floors open!!! :shock:
I bought the VCD - Wonderful Days. It's a Korean animation, a mixture of 2D & 3D effects. You can see the anime influence in the movie. I've seen the trailer and thought it was pretty cool (I've never watched a Korean animation before). I thought it would come to the cinemas, but since the VCD is already out... wonder if it'll hit the big screen...

Has anyone ever encountered questions like:
1) Why can't the printer print?
2) Why can't I send e-mail?
3) Why can't I open/see the file?
4) Why can't I surf the internet?
5) Why can't I email this file to the client?
The above are just some of the questions my dept has to face daily from the Account Executives downstairs. Often, our answers are as such:
1) Why can't the printer print? - No toner/paper. Go replace toner/add paper.
2) Why can't I send e-mail? - Server is down-lah. Go bug Telekom
3) Why can't I open/see the file? - Does your PC hv the software?
4) Why can't I surf the internet? - Server is down-lah. Go bug Telekom
5) Why can't I email this file to the client? - Your file is 10MB, you doink!
Whateva happened to K-economy....

*Dials a toll-free number. Goes through all the machine talk before directing me to a homosapien*
#1: ING Housing Loans Dept, this is name< speaking... (friendly tone)>Me: Morning. I took a housing loan from ING and I called to check the status of the progressive billing. The project is name of condo< and I was informed by your agent that handles my account that the loan will be released today?>#1: Are you an agent or customer?
Me: Customer (duh! I said I took a loan...)
#1: Ok maam. This is not the billings dept, so I'm going to transfer you to the billings dept ok? Just hold on yar?
*... some music playing...*
#2: ING, hello
Me: Yes, I took a housing loan from ING and I called to check the status of the progressive billing. The project is name of condo< and I was informed by your agent that handles my account that the loan will be released today?>#2: (in a very frustrating tone)... First of all... this is NOT the billings dept. The person in charge is on leave!
Me: Well, my call was passed to you. How would I know you're not in the billings dept?
#2: *some grumbling sound* I cannot help you...
Me: Can you get someone to help me then?
#2: *more grumbling sound*... Hold on...
*... more music playing...*
#3: Hello (sounds quite pleasant)
Me: Hello, may I know who's speaking here?

Me: I was never given a reference number (blur)

#3: Just a moment yar... (can hear her typing on the keyboard... klakkity klak kak...)
#3: Ok maam. Apparently the loan has been released. I think it's been sent to the developer just now.
Me: I thought you guys will call me once you relase the loan?
#3: Oh, you will receive a mail regarding the details about the release in your mailbox maam. And for your information maam, your reference number is XXXXXXX
Me: Oic. Thanks for the help. Thanks a lot.
*ends call*
#2 customer support was crap man. But at least the last one was cool :)

Not only is today my birthday, it's also our 3rd year "couple - anniversary" :wink: And we'll going stronger than eva!!! Hehehehhe... wonder where he will take me :wink:
I was suprised my colleagues bought a cake for me too. I didn't think anyone would remember cos we don't exactly celebrate birthdays in the office much. But I figured out how they remembered: One of our Creative Director celebrated his birthday a few days before mine, and he's been asking me for a TV set as a birthday gift!!! So while I was away last week, he reminded everyone about my birthday. So sweet :) Plus the cake had less 1 candle. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :lol:

[image]oliviasy_644921841 .gif[/image] It's been quite a few days since my last post. The weekend was good. We finally got all Saturdays off (at least until the end of 2003). Phew! Working on Saturdays is a waste of time man. Now I'm just looking forward to my coming leave - 12 Nov to 16 Nov. Yep, 5 days man(plus the weekend). Going outstation for a few days. Just forget about work, office and crap... and just relax a little.
I've been regularly exercising too. At least 3 tmes a week. Previously I was always lazy when it comes to exercise :oops: But now I'm trying to dicipline myself. Exercise at least 3 times a week. I go swimming, since there's a pool in my area *hehe* Make full use of it. I swim an average of 30 laps. I did read somewhere that swimming is a good form of exercise as you work all your muscles out, and there's no strenous strain to muscles/joints - unlike jogging. And after swimming, I actually feel kinda good :) Also, exercise is a good way to release all the 'tension' from the day. Like last week, my mood was so extremely bad... But I didn't want to vent my frustration/anger or throw tantrums. So I left the office at 5pm SHARP, and jumped into the pool. I pampered myself that day - swimming, hot shower, facial & body lotion. Kinda like a home-made spa :wink: Hehe...
Gotta stop here. Since I'll be on leave soon, better finish off some work.

The heat is building up inside of me. It's been building up since this morning. I had planned to leave at 5pm sharp, and head to the pool for some much needed relieve. One phone call, and my top almost exploded. That's the last straw. I didn't sell my life to you or to anyone. You don't expect me to be on standby 24 hours. I'm leaving at 5pm SHARP, like it or not. Yea, I defy you.

I've been looking for greener pastures, but I guess with the market with have these days, gotta stick around until something good/better comes along. In the mean time, tie a rope around your neck and just hang yourself silly.
I feel a bit agitated today, don't know why. But I don't like this feeling. Plus, this morning a couple of people threw some stuff at me which I have absolutely no idea of. They said "What format do you want the files to be? I'll put them in the server." I was like "What are you talking about?" I proceeded to ask the Creative Director (CD). Turns out there's a presentation, and they want a multimedia to be done. You see what this place does to you? They throw stuff at you which you have absolutely no idea of. And the bext part is, what they give you is never complete. They keep changing the damn thing right until the very last minute. And they don't even tell you ahead what needs to be done. Screw them!
I'm looking for opportunities... opportunities to diverse out of design. I can't seem to find the satisfaction in it. Sometimes I look back...I don't know why I took up design in the 1st place. But I know I shouldn't be looking back. I should be looking forward. Unfortunately for now, the road in front is crappy and uncertain. I heard there's another round of retrenchment amongst the big boys in advertising.
A lot of people think that the advertising world is all glam & cool. I for one think the opposite. The lecturers used to bombard our heads with the big bucks & big titles that follow our names. We were at that time, still students, naive in thinking :? Well, it was never my intention to come into an ad agency, local or otherwise (I'm currently in a local agency). I was formerly working in a dotcom, before that burst. I'm still doing multimedia, but I no longer enjoy it. Maybe it's the current workplace (very high staff turnover, sucky management, superbly kiam-siap big bosses). I'm trying to pull all my sanity together while working in here. I look forward to go home everday, cos I hate being stuck in my cubicle doing monotonous jobs. I've this CDROM project with me since January... Can you believe it! JANUARY. The clients don't know what they want, hence they keep changing the damn thing. When a new head takes over the dept, he/she wants something else. The list goes on...
I don't want to be stuck working here for 5,6,7,8,9 even 10 years. I don't how those long serving staff can stand doing to same ol' stuff again & again. Imagine doing DTP for 10 years... The increment ain't that good , plus bonus is dependant on the moods of the big guys.
Ok, I'm losing my cool. Breathe gal, breathe... 1.... 2.... 3.... *phheewwww*
