New Look!
10.30.03 (6:51 pm) [edit]
Friday 31st Oct, 2003 10.21am
[image]oliviasy_122595278 .jpg[/image]Got my blog a new look! Nothing fancy really... I like things simple & clean. The Hamtaro image sure stands a lot more now *HAHAHAHAHA*
Today is the official day Dr Mahathir steps down from office and passes the job to Pak Lah. 22 years as a Prime Minister, 22 years of holding the country together, ensuring progress & development & unity. I'll be sure to watch the official hand-over ceremony today, sure can see some ministers & officials crying their hearts out  I read from The Star that some big shots actually bought over 2,000 copies of the Dr.M special edition. Why in the world would someone want 2,000 copies of the same thing...? Your guess is as good as mine.
In the mean time, it's Friday (yippee!!!) and it's Halloween (pumpkin fever). My manager is on leave, and I'm stuck in the office, bumming around... Is that luck or what... 8)

Goodbye Uncle Kam...
10.28.03 (11:32 pm) [edit]
29th Oct, 2003 3.00pm
I was having my lunch with some colleagues in Jaya, Section 14 PJ when my mum called me. She informed me that one of our family friend, Uncle Kam, passed away yesterday afternoon due to a heart attack. I was dazed... the man was always in good health. And I don't think he's even 45 yet. My family has known him for quite a few years already. His sister-in-law happens to be my dad's auditor. I've personally spoken to this man on several occasions. He gives me advices on how to tackle certain issues, how to go about certain businesses etc. Very friendly man, nice guy. Very sporty too, drives a Satria GTi (Lotus engineering). I remember at one time his wife has trouble conceiving (due to numerous miscarriages), but eventually she did give birth to a son - premature birth. The little boy was in hospital for several months before being discharged. The son's already 8 yrs old. And yesterday, he lost his dad...
I was told it happened on the way back from lunch. Uncle Kam was with his colleagues, walking back to the office. When he got off the bridge, he just collapsed. The ambulance came & tried to revive him, but failed. Uncle Kam was pronounced dead on arrival. It was a lightning fast heart attack. He left... just like that... I'm still trying to digest the fact...
Goodbye Uncle Kam. My condolences to Ms Chan (the auditor) & family. You shall be missed...

Tuesday Wisdom...
10.27.03 (10:29 pm) [edit]
Tuesday 28th Oct, 2003 1.56pm
Thought of the Day: Always bring extra pieces of tissue paper during lunch. Cos you never know when you're gonna get splashed by dirty rain water while crossing the road to get to your lunch destination. That's right... some drivers love to just speed and splash all the rain water onto you just to see you squirm and go "EEEKKK" at the sight of dirty water going up your legs/pants/skirt (in this case, my legs cos I'm wearing a knee-length skirt). Boy I would love to hold them drivers by the neck and douse their head with the same rain water they splash us with  That would be a nice sight to behold, doncha think
Enuf said. The connection today is just as bad as the days before - unstable. I don't know what is TMNet up to, thank god I only access Streamyx in the office. Also, this whole morning I was listening to my manager working on the Siti Nurhaliza CDROM. Oh Siti Oh Siti Oh Siti... such a demure little creature. Sweet as candy, petite little lady with eyes as big as almond, fair skin and one who refrains from wearing short mini skirts or anything that reveals too much skin - akhlak baik or something like that. Give her an open chance to take part in the Ms Malaysia pagent, and she'll jump straight into the bandwagon I tell ya. She's so damn sweet, you could almost slap her *hahahaha*
The GM brought some guests today. Took them around to see the whole company, the equipments we have and the staff strength. Sometimes I feel like an animal in the zoo, like some sort of live exhibit... "Over here, we have the chimpanzees... See how smart they are at the keyboards?"

STREAMYX SUCKS!!!
10.26.03 (11:50 pm) [edit]
Monday 27th Oct, 2003 3.20pm
You heard me. STREAMYX SUCKS. It sucks big time... BIG TIME. Lousy service, lousy non-existing customer support, lousy connection, YOU SUCK!!! Streamyx sucks. Telekom sucks. Telekom keeps advertising the low broadband rates available, but so what? The connection is so damn unstable, you call the customer support and your call will get pass everywhere until the line gets cut. And how about all the downtime for no reason at all. Yea yea, blame it on the virus or some other shit. Face it, Telekom sucks and you know it. The whole Malaysian population knnows how bad you guys are. Empty promises, lousy service, brainless idiots. And now you want to monopolise the ISP market by "merging" with Jaring. WHAT?!? Jaring is a goner once Telekom Merges with it! Like leave Jaring alone man. You guys should be working on how the hell you can improve your customer support, your so-called "no downtime, always on" broadband service. Instead of making press conferences annoucing stuff like "We plan to merge with so-and-so... to be the largest single ISP provider in the country... bla bla bla..." Like work on your faults first man, before you go around stepping into other people's territory. So what if you're the biggest, the largest ISP/telecommunication provider? You may be big, but hell, you SUCK BIG TIME!!!

I Had A Dream...
10.24.03 (8:17 pm) [edit]
Saturday 25th Oct, 2003 10.35am
Didn't exactly sleep well last night. 1st, there was a thunderstorm. The wind was so strong, my room door was shaking. Like something out of a nightmare, some freaky monster trying to open my door  But I feel asleep eventually. But I had a strange dream. So strange, it was downright weird. I dreamt I was with someone new, but I was still very good friends with my former boyfriend. But what he didn't know was, in my current relationship, I was physically being beaten & abused. I don't know why I didn't tell anyone about the abuse. Until one day, I actually collapsed due to internal bleeding, and my former bf (in my dream then) sent me to a hospital. The doctors discovered that I had actually written a letter stating about the abuse and all, and the doctor and my former bf got the guy arrested immediately. And there I was on the hospital bed, weak & miserable... and my former bf was by my side. He asked why didn't I tell him about the beating, I just said I didn't have the guts to tell him. I woke up from my dream... turned and saw my beloved boyfriend sleeping by my side. I crawled to him, hugged him really tight and started to cry. He woke up surprised and asked me what's wrong, but I was just crying & crying... After I cooled down I told him about the dream and he assured me it's only a dream, and gave me a very strong hug. I felt so lucky to have him... I will treasure him always.
Maybe the dream is a sign. A sign to remind me that this is the man who's going to be with me for the rest of my life. This is the man who loves me, cares for me and only wants the best for me. He may not be the romantic type, but he's honest, patient, understanding and most of all, he loves me for who I am and accepts my faults. And with him, I have changed quite a bit, to a better person. I have learnt to control my sudden temper outburst, my impatient attitude.
I love you dear.

Ditched...
10.22.03 (11:37 pm) [edit]
Thursday 23rd Oct, 2003 2.10pm
Just after lunch. Yep, "ta-pau" again. So they ditched me, who cares. I didn't do anything, so I can't be bothered to ask. Heck with it lah. When they need me, I'll still help them :) Maybe they think I'm not sporting enuf cos I don't join them for drinks at some bars/pubs. So? I have a choice to join or not at all.
Tomorrow is Deepavali. Happy Deepavali to all my indian friends who're celebrating it :D Ahhhh.. the Festival of Lights. The power of good over evil. If that is so, then why do good guys always finish last... The irony of it all...

The Passion - A Mel Gibson Movie
10.22.03 (3:31 am) [edit]
Wednesday 22th Oct, 2003 Time 6.05pm
I just downloaded the trailer for the movie: The Passion. It talks about the last 12 hours of Christ, and all spoken language is either in Latin, Aramaic, or Hebrew. Wow... It'll be good to watch this. I'm neither a Christian nor Catholic, but it'll be interesting to watch the final moments of Christ. I doubt it'll be able to reach malaysian shores... since our censorship board will defnitely have SOMETHING to say about the movie (i.e: not good for the people, too violent, too much blood & gory, talking about religion? Oh cannot!) Even the movie Bruce Almighty had to go through such rough tides before being screened.
50 years into independance and we still live in the dark ages... Well, some of us anyway (PAS especially).

...Boredom Has Set In...
10.21.03 (12:43 am) [edit]
Tuesday 21st Oct, 2003 2.46pm
I'm bored. My job is so monotonous. My job find hasn't been successful either :? Been sending resumes out since end of last year, but the replies are disappointing. *sigh* More like, no replies. I did get an offer previously, but I had to turn the job down cos they wanted someone with their own transport (they didn't advertise clearly in their ad, so not my fault). I don't plan to get a car anytime soon so....
Not that I hate my job. My job's fine actually, but most times, I get bored with the projects. Same old stuff day in, day out. I've been working on this particular project since the start of the year, and it's still with me... 10 bloody months already. Why is it still with me? Cos the client kept changing the goddamn thing. 10 months... 10 months... Always the same ol'client - Telekom Malaysia. Sickening name. Sickening people.
Another thing about my current workplace is the people. Some people: Pain in the ass. REAL pain in the ass. They enjoy tormenting you with super last minute jobs, abuse the term "URGENT" so much, the word no longer means anything to me. Plus since working here, I've grown to be quite racist at times. It's not my fault. But when you have to face "pigs" daily, you tend to become a racist, even just a little bit.
Plus everyday, I go home reeking like cigaratte smoke. 2nd hand smoke. And I absolutely HATE ciggie smoke. It stinks, it's not healthy, it's not cool. One of the main reason why I wanna ciao from this place - I can't stand the smoke. Even though the smokers smoke at the staircase outside, the wind sometimes blows the smoke in... Plus at times, the big boss walks around with a ciggie in her hand... I don't wanna die young... That's why if I look for a guy/mate, smoking is a BIG turnoff. And THANK GOD my boyfriend doesn't smoke! No offence to smokers out there, it's just a personal preference
The monotony is killing me...

The Inner Secret Bra - A Revolutionary Answer to Flat-Chested People!!!
10.17.03 (8:53 pm) [edit]
Saturday 18th Oct, 2003 Time 11.21am
It's here! A promise of a cup increase and instant cleavage!!! Two adhesive silicone cups that is revolutionising the flat-chested Far East. The bra is highly popular in Hong Kong, where it is manufactured, and in Japan too. The INNER SECRET BRA
So what is the The INNER SECRET BRA all about? First, it is 2 adhesive silicone cups, made to look, feel and bounce like the real thing. It's also the answer for flat-chested women to obtain a larger cup & cleavage - minus plastic surgery. It's easy to use: First, make sure your breast area is clean & free from any lotion, powder and cream. Turn each cup inside out and carefully place it on top of your nipple, to the side or bottom of your breasts, cupping it with the hands to secure it. Connect the buckle, and there you have it, Bridget Bardot’s cleavage. read the article here http://thestar.com.my/lifesty...
It's amazing isn't it? No need for surgery, no need for high cost of consulting plastic surgeons. For just RM 499, you can get an instant increase in cup size, and an amazing cleavage to boost! And you can reuse the bra up to 100 times! All for RM 499!!! That's about USD 132. Not bad huh  You can wear them to work, shopping, dinner parties, cocktail parties... etc. Except for sports & all-night clubbing of course, the sweat will cause the adhesive to come off.
Sounds promising huh? Maybe I should pop over to the INNER SECRET boutique in KLCC and have a peek on the INNER SECRET BRA... isn't it great to be a woman. It's even better if you're a RICH woman... 8) *ahem* Anyone willing to offer me RM499?

Weblogs: What are they really for?
10.17.03 (2:24 am) [edit]
Friday 17th Oct, 2003 4.30pm
Question: What are weblogs really for? I've read quite a few blogs already. Personal friends, stranger... the works. What's interesting is... its a place for YOU to write down all your thoughts, your views & opinions, your likes, dislikes, what you think of the government, the new TV movie, new singer and bla bla bla... Not to mention a place for certain individuals (ahem-ahem) to pen their sexual encounters  referring to Sugarbooger
This morning I read some of my own countrymen's blogs: http://www.petalingstreet.org... Some were hilarious. Some were downright sarcastic. But I salute them for penning their thoughts down onto the World Wide Web. Cos if you're a citizen in my country, you'll realise it ain't easy voicing out... hard to explain-lah!
It's Friday, boy am I glad. Althought I still gotta report to work tomorrow, but what's 1/2 day lah  Got lunch with a good buddy tomorrow, gonna eat italian food! Pizza pasta pizza pasta pizza pasta!!! *sigh* I heard too much of tha radio jingle...

I Absolutely HATE marketing pitches...!!!
10.14.03 (12:49 am) [edit]
Tuesday 14th Oct, 2003 3.09pm
Don't get me wrong, marketing is a fundamental issue. It brings in sales, it brings in money/wealth. What I'm referring to are those databases that collect your data (i.e: name, contact number etc), store them in their servers, and release it out to insurance companies, banks and what not - After that, you get calls asking you to apply credit cards that are pre-approved, buy this very good insurance policy specifically drawn up for you, you're one of the selected members to get this once-in-a-life-time chance to be a prestige member of some hotel spa... all that shit.
Just this morning some fool called my house, asking for me. He claimed to be from a reputable developer - TALAM Corporation. Now most M'sians know TALAM is a lousy developer  Anyway, he didn't reveal his name when he was speaking to my mum (I was at work at that time). The clown just asked for me, and said that I've booked a shoplot from TALAM Corp. He also asked if I was married to some other clown by the name of Mr.Pang! My mum covered for me of course. She quickly questioned that clown, saying I'm not married, I'm an underage girl and I'm working part-time in McDonald's. She also demanded his name & threatened to make a police report. The clown ended the call abruptly... Obviously some idiot picking randomly, see who'll fall for his bluff and reveal private information. HATE SUCH PEOPLE!!!
I've had calls from insurance people, bank officers, hotels etc... all offering me stuff that I DON'T need and DIDN'T ask for. One time, I even had Reader's Digest mailing me their annual contest entry forms - I qualified at every round, all the way to the finals. And I never ONCE, not ONCE did I even mailed back my reply slip. You marketing people are getting out of hand. It's bad enough you guys keep pushing unsuspecting people into your bluffs, now you incorporate the use of big corporations. How low can you guys go...? :?
No, I'm not interested. And NO, my friends aren't interested either. Now buzz off & go fly a kite!!!

Farewell Terrible & Lion...
10.12.03 (11:29 pm) [edit]
Monday 13th Oct, 2003 2.01pm
Just after lunch. My dad's on his way back to Tasik Chini, Pahang - his current work place for the project. He took a pair of my hasters back to Chini as well, cos one of the boys there loves animals and wants a pair of hammies for breeding. Waaaa... I miss Terrible & Lion so much now. They're town hammies... If you're wondering why my hammies have funny names... there's a story to it.
Terrible - cos there's no other word to describe her! She bullied her own mother & sister, stuffed all the food in her mouth and not share, tore down her water bottle etc. Despite her obnoxious behaviour, she's a cutey!
Lion - my mum gave him that name. His fur's light cream in colour, with a white band across his tummy. Very cautious & active fella, always jogging around his house.
I have 4 more hammies - Tiger, Baby Tiger, Big Momma & Sausage. Sausage is the fattest female hammie I've reared.
I hope both terrible & Lion have a good life in Chini... Will miss their mischieves a lot!!! 8)

Ouch...
10.09.03 (9:34 pm) [edit]
Friday 10th Oct, 2003 12.07pm
Woke up with a very stiff neck today. It's noon now, my neck is still aching all round the base. It hurts when I lift my head to look up, and when I look sideways, I gotta turn slowly. or else, just turn my whole body and look. I'm trying not to move my head so much, so as to not aggravate the ache *sigh*
What a wet day today. Such a nice day to sleep! Reached the office pretty early today (1st to arrive in my dept!). Bad jam outside too. A little rain can cause traffic havoc in PJ/KL. Next week will be super jammed pack due to the road closures in KL for the OIC summit. Not a good idea to go down to KL then...

Infernal Affairs - Conspiracies & Lies
10.08.03 (12:08 am) [edit]
Wednesday 8th Oct, 2003 2.41pm
I have watched Infernal Affairs 2. It is excellent. The complexity, the conspiracies & lies within one movie was so well thought of. In many ways, it reflects one's life. We never can tell who we can really trust, who's our real friend(s), who's our enemy(s). In IA 1 & 2, the story revolves around 2 men... Ming, a gangster sent into the police force as an undercover. And Yan, a police officer sent into the triads as an undercover. The plot thickens as the story unravels many complex, mind boggling, suprising & twisting relationships between the traids themselves and the police force... Excellent script with very good actor to boot.
Feeling a bit sleepy now (after lunch). I just bought this small bottle of perfume from my colleague. She's helping her sister (who's working in AVON) sell it. The proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Awareness programme AVON is undertaking. Since it's for a good cause, I took one bottle
Just before lunch, I read from MSN that Arnie won the election and is now Governer of California. Hehe, could this be another step for an actor/entertainer to presidency? We shall wait & see... of course there were reports of his past behavious (like all the groping & stuff) coming from some parties. But why are they bringing the allegations up now? And how come police reports were never made? It's weird... let's just hope Arnie can do a good job for the state of California & not let the dirty world of politics corrupt him.

Another week, another day
10.05.03 (11:56 pm) [edit]
Monday 6th Oct, 2003 2.36pm
The week has started, yet again. Hehe... Monday blues  I had a nice weekend. Went to IKEA, great place to get ideas for home decoration & stuff. IKEA is absolutely humongous. After that, spent a few more hours in 1Utama (shopping, bumped into a couple of friends, just window shopping). Went home for dinner, and off to 1Utama again to catch a movie. Had a nice Saturday :D Sunday was ok too. I was at home the whole day, just watching tv, and playing with my hamsters. It's been pretty breezy lately, probably signs that monsoon season is about to come... oh well...
Yesterday, out of curiosity, I asked my boyfriend if he thought of getting engaged. I don't know why I asked him that question, it just popped into my head  I didn't mean anything else, it was just me being nosy(women!!!). His answer was... engagement is just something between 2 people, like an agreement, only you don't sign anything yet. But he does plan to register. Ah well, our house isn't ready yet so...
My mum intends to get my dad to take 2 of my hamsters to Tasik Chini for breeding. Boohoo... I watched them grow up & fat!!! It's like you're taking my baby away from me. Waaaaa  They're used to me, my smell, and the many treats I give them. They're pampered hammies *sob sob* Booooo.....

TGIF...
10.02.03 (8:58 pm) [edit]
Friday 3rd Oct, 2003 11.27am
Yes, it's Friday! Tomorrow is the 1st Saturday, and I don't have to work! Yippee!!! I know, I sound like a kid, but who cares!!! I'm going to IKEA tomorrow, haven't stepped foot into that place since they opened it on August 14th, 2003. Heard it's super huge, and you can walk until your legs break :þ Supposedly the biggest IKEA in Asia, or something like that. Whatever...
Dang Streamyx is slow again. Talk about broadband speed and all that instantaneous downloads... crap. And now the recent news is TM Net has reduced broadband charges (30% for home users, 50% for commercial users). Yea yea, keep reducing it to attract more customers. But we all know that TM Net doesn't live up to its promises of "high-speed data transmission & good customer management". Keep pushing broadband to people, but no ports available to keep up with the volume. Customer support? You're lucky if someone DOES pick up your calls at all. Otherwise, the normal procedure would be let the phone ring non-stop, or pass it around various departments until the call gets cut. That's CRM from government sectors. Get use to it...
Please please please DON'T let TM Net take over Jaring... please please please don't let that happen...!!!!
